Facility
information

Managing technical asset information is both about storing it and making it useful for the whole organization. Gathering and organizing information in a centralized system creates a clearer overview and easier access, as well as the ability to control rights.

Increasing efficiency and reducing quality gaps

Structure & overview
A single source of information makes it easier to organize and manage facility data.
Reduced risk of errors
Traceability and consistent processes ensure that the right information is used at the right time.
More efficient workflows
Easy access to up-to-date information improves collaboration and decision-making.

Common challenges

-> A lot of time is spent on searching and verifying data
-> Paper-based systems
-> Scattered information in several different systems
-> Cumbersome manual reporting
-> Conflicting information
-> Superficial information in the maintenance system
-> Traceability is missing

Here's how we've solved past challenges

From fragmented documentation to efficient maintenance

The problem

A wastewater treatment plant on the West Coast had its plant documentation scattered in several systems, with different versions of the same document. Maintenance staff spent a lot of time finding and verifying information.

Solution

All documentation was imported into COMOS and linked to the equipment. Technical data was integrated, and a link to the maintenance system ensured access there.

Result

Staff can quickly find the right information and trust that documents are up-to-date, freeing up time and enabling more strategic maintenance work.

About this position

Questions and answers

Documentation is a subset of the facility information. Some people exclude drawings from documents, but these are included and are an important part. Other parts are technical data and "IT files" such as configuration files and firmware.

It is a system that can collect both data and documents, and create structures that correspond to the structures of the plant. An object, such as a pump, becomes a holder that can hold both technical data and all related documents.

When all available information is gathered in one place, it becomes easy to search. This makes it quicker to find what you are looking for and there is less risk of finding conflicting information.

Paper-based can be scanned in. Import Excel lists and thus make data more usable, accessible and searchable.

It is the technical information that describes a facility; data and documents. Everything from flow charts to maintenance manuals. But also technical data like design pressure or flow.
